BlueSmart mia

FAQ

Do caretakers need to be tech savvy and have a smart phone with the BlueSmart Mia app on their phones too? What if they don’t have a smart phone?

Your caretakers don't need a phone! The feeding data they input into the mia will still be sent straight to your phone. The BlueSmart mia was designed with this question in mind.

Do parents, babysitters, or grandparents need to always connect this device to their Wi-Fi in order to use it?

In short, no.

While it’s not suggested to use BlueSmart mia without WiFi connection, you can still use certain functions of the product when you are not connected to WiFi as long as the product is set up successfully. The temperature alert, feeding reminder, angle alert, feeding duration, and feeding amount features will still function but they are limited. Besides the feeding amount (voice recognition feature), all other data will be saved while offline for up to 8 feedings. For the feeding amount, only the latest 2 voice inputs will be saved. This data will be uploaded to your smartphone app once your device is connected to WiFi.

Is it quick and easy to train a babysitter or even a grandparent how to use this device?

The BlueSmart mia is very straight-forward. If anything, pairing the mia with your phone is the hardest part and even that part is simple. Also, there are no buttons on the BlueSmart mia so don't worry about that. Remember; we made this product with the goal of relieving stress, not adding it. :)

All a caretaker has to do is slip a bottle into the silicone sleeve and know the trigger "Hey mia" to enter feeding amounts and they are set.

You can also give a caretaker the Quick Starter Guide which comes with the BlueSmart mia - a small brochure with the essentials of how to use it!

Does BlueSmart mia work with 220 voltage? I live overseas.

The wireless charging plate that is used to charge BlueSmart mia is powered through a micro-USB. So as long as you have the appropriate outlet to USB adapter there will be no issues. 120V and 220V both work.

For simplification:
Outlet (120V or 220V) --> USB adapter --> USB to micro-USB cable --> Wireless charging plate --> mia

Of the 5 items listed above, the BlueSmart mia comes with the last 3.

Can BlueSmart mia be used outdoors?

While it’s not recommended to use BlueSmart mia outdoors, it can still function with limitations (see how to use BlueSmart mia without WiFi- question above). Before taking BlueSmart mia outdoors, you need to turn it off (or the battery will die quickly). Turn it back on before use.

Can BlueSmart mia be used when not connected to WiFi?

When we're in different time zones, is the feeding time data displayed in the BlueSmart mia app based on my time zone or that of my baby?

The time of the logged feeding data in your Waddle app is based on the time zone in which your BlueSmart mia device is located. When the device's time zones changes, the time on the BlueSmart mia app will be updated according to the time zone in which the device is located as soon as your BlueSmart mia is connected to WiFi.

How does BlueSmart mia send a feeding reminder?

You can view and/or make changes to the feeding schedule in the BlueSmart mia app.
The BlueSmart mia's MILK DROP indicator will blink when it's time to feed your baby. After blinking for one minute or when BlueSmart mia is picked up, the MILK DROP indicator will go out automatically. The BlueSmart mia app will also send a feeding reminder to your smartphone. (You can enable or disable the reminder notification in the settings).

How do I turn BlueSmart mia on and off?

For your convenience, BlueSmart mia does not need to be turned on or off (unless you go on a flight or take BlueSmart mia outdoors). The device will go into sleep mode after 1 minute of inactivity. BlueSmart mia will wake up when you pick up the device.
To turn off the device, insert the Power pin once into the Power hole. To turn the device back on, repeat the above step.

How does BlueSmart mia measure the feeding angle?

BlueSmart mia measures feeding angle through a built-in motion sensor.
The Angle Alert will blink if the feeding angle is improper, and it will be off if the feeding angle is optimal. BlueSmart mia will record the feeding angle and upload it to the cloud server, enabling you to view the angle details in the app.
Keep in mind, it's important to hold the bottle at the right angle to prevent baby from choking, experiencing discomfort, or gas.

How does BlueSmart mia measure the temperature? Is it accurate?

The temperature indicator will turn on when you put the baby bottle inside the silicone smart sleeve. The device measures the temperature at the bottom of the baby bottle through infrared technology, just like an ear thermometer.
By default, temperatures of 95℉/35℃ to 107.6℉/42℃ are optimal to feed baby. In the range of 95℉/35℃ to 107.6℉/42℃, the indicator light will turn green. When the temperature is higher than 107.6℉/42℃, the indicator light will turn red. When the temperature is lower than 95℉/35℃, the indicator light will turn blue.
BlueSmart mia will record the temperature when you start feeding and upload the data to the cloud, enabling you to view temperature details in the app. Please note that BlueSmart mia measures the temperature at the bottom of the baby bottle. There may be errors with the temperature of the liquid in the middle or top of the bottle, so please shake the baby bottle or wait for over one minute to ensure the safety of your baby.

How long will BlueSmart mia's battery last?

On a full charge, the battery can last approximately a full day (based on normal feeding habits).

Does BlueSmart mia help to preserve the breastmilk or formula temperature?

BlueSmart mia can preserve the temperature of the portion to a certain degree due to the insulating effect of the silicone smart sleeve.

How does BlueSmart mia measure the amount of each portion? Is it accurate?

We measure the amount using voice recognition technology. Simply tell your BlueSmart mia the amount your baby ate and it will sync the feeding amount data to the BlueSmart mia app.

How do I wash BlueSmart mia?

The removable indicator puck can be hand-washed with dish soap and the smart sleeve can be either hand-washed or put in the dishwasher. BlueSmart mia passes the IPX7 waterproof standard.

Can one BlueSmart mia be used by several babies? What if I have twins/triplets?

Only one baby can use one BlueSmart mia. The device can only record feeding data of one baby. However, if you have more than one baby and more than one BlueSmart mia device, you can manage the feeding data of each baby in one Waddle app. To do so, you must create different baby profiles by tapping a plus sign on the right side of your baby's avatar on the profile page. The BlueSmart mia app's home page uses the feeding data of the selected baby (the avatar displayed on the top left corner of your smartphone screen).
If you have more than one baby you want to track with BlueSmart mia, you will need a separate BlueSmart mia for each baby.
